SportsMark is honored to have been recognized as the 2008 Sports Event Marketing Firm of the Year at the inaugural Sports Business Awards presented by Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily, the two leading publications on the business of sports. The Awards took place in a live ceremony on Thursday, May 29th at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City.
The Sports Business Awards recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the sports industry during 2007. “The launch of the Sports Business Awards coincides with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the SportsBusiness Journal and her sister publication, the SportsBusiness Daily,” says Richard Weiss, publisher of the SportsBusiness Journal. “After chronicling the leaders in the sports industry for 10 years, we decided the time was right to recognize and celebrate these companies and executives who are at the industry’s forefront in a more formal manner.”
SportsMark was selected from three nominees for Sports Event Marketing Firm of the Year including, in alphabetical order, Fuse, SportsMark and Vivid Marketing. SportsMark CMO Keith Bruce said, “At SportsMark, we have a philosophy and it’s called: People, Performance, Perspective. That theory allows us to create some unique best-in-class sporting events…We can’t think of a better award that represents that theory of people, performance, perspective than this.”
Bruce continued, “This award honors all of our SportsMark employees all around the world—from Beijing, to Vancouver, to the Bay Area and everywhere else in between— who work tirelessly to plan, manage and produce best-in-class event experiences for our clients at the largest sporting events in the world. We would also like to thank our great clients, without whom we would not have been able to earn or accept this award.”Eleven awards were presented in total during the ceremony. Winners included AEG President & CEO Tim Leiweke for Sports Executive of the Year, MLS for Pro League, the Red Sox for Pro Team, Octagon for Sports Agency and Fox Sports for Sports Media.
