America’s Cup organizers hired San Rafael-based SportsMark to manage and sell hospitality for its sailing events this year and next. SportsMark will be the official corporate hospitality management partner and exclusive seller of hospitality programs for the America’s Cup World Series events and the series of America’s Cup races held between July and September 2013 in San Francisco, the SportsBusiness Journal reported.
America’s Cup organizers said they expect 7 million to 15 million spectators for the San Francisco races, the SportsBusiness Journal reported. Hospitality plans call for both on-the-water and on-shore options.
Keith Bruce, SportsMark’s president, told the SportsBusiness Journal that the company plans to begin selling hospitality packages by the end of the month and prices will start at $1,000 per person for World Series events.
SportsMark already has experience with the America’s Cup. The agency sold hospitality for preliminary America’s Cup races held in San Diego last November.
SportsMark specializes in providing hospitality programs for corporate clients at major events like the Olympics, World Cup, Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four.
